The purpose I find in this work is not theoretical.
It is grounded in lived experiences - sincere love and unexpected loss - that have taught me the value of making and printing photographs. My purpose is derived from what I know to be true. That our grand lives and deep loves are sacred - and there is no price tag that can properly account for the value of their lasting preservation.
Because of this, I view each wedding as a collaboration with my couples and their trust in me is essential. I don’t see myself as a quiet observer but instead experience the day alongside them so I’m able to capture what it felt like to be in the room… not just what it looked like. Although, you’ll find that in my work, too, because I find a sincere joy in the appreciation of the beautiful things around me.
What drew me to Blake was the way his photos look like a still from a movie, with its movement, colors, and raw emotion.
